  • When I look back at my younger self, two things standout—a journey of confidence and a journey of finding what to do as a career.

  • A journey of finding confidence…

I was a shy and reserved little girl. My parents even enrolled me in karate at age five to help build my self-assurance. It worked, my mom said, and I began to open up more with kids my age. In grade school, I craved acceptance and sought out anything deemed "cool," yearning to be seen.

High school brought a shift; I carried a newfound swag and loved my upper teen years filled with driving, sports, and social gatherings. However, my world was turned upside down when we made a big move across the country after graduation. Though challenging at the time time, it pushed me to make new friends and put myself out there in a place where I knew no one.

College was a highlight; I joined a sorority, met a ton of people from all over and made unforgettable memories—including studying abroad. Post college I moved straight to Seattle, where I had lived during the summers and would settle down alongside my close friends. I felt on top of the world socially, but didn’t quite have the career thing figured out yet.

  • A journey to finding my edit …

Coming from a family of entrepreneurs and creatives, I've always had a desire to design my own career doing what I love. I went to school for interiors and architecture, practiced marketing out of school with my communications degree in tech and retail, and then found myself jumping the corporate ship for creative freedom. I wanted to reap the benefits of my own work and create a brand where I could inspire. In 2016, I created The Grey Edit—a lifestyle blog with a mission to empower the modern woman to find her edit. Along the way, I found my own…

Documenting life has always been my obsession—from the days of disposable cameras in middle school to point-and-shoots in college, digital albums, and blogs. These creative outlets have always fueled me.

One day it clicked that I could turn my lifelong passion for photography into a business, I didn’t hesitate. I launched The Grey Edit Photo in 2020 and have since focused on what lights me up the most: empowering the modern woman through creative portraits across self love and branding.

ON MY STUDIOS

I belong to a creative collective that gives me access me to three gorgeous spaces. Industrial & airy, textured & cozy, modern & vibey.

You take your pick... whichever tickles your fancy.

ON MY STYLE & VIBE

Everything I offer is designed with you in mind—the modern woman who's busy, appreciates QUALITY and knows that investing in herself is totally WORTH IT.

When we shoot together, my goal is to make you feel comfortable in your own skin and any clothes you’re wearing. I’ll take the time to learn about your story and then I’ll work to ensure the photos we capture truly reflect it.

THIS ISN’T JUST A PHOTOSHOOT.

It’s a photography experience that will allow you to feel seen.

An investment to yourself to serve as a reminder of the incredibly amazing, badass and beautiful woman you are.

I give a damn about style, and I’ve learned that when you truly love what you're wearing, it shows. I’ll be there to help you pick the perfect outfits, making your photoshoot one for the books.
I've developed an aesthetic that's modern with an edgy, PNW flair. Shooting in natural lit studios. Creating mood with shadows. Pulling inspo from the editorial world—because all women deserve to be on a cover.

The outcome? Timeless photos with an editorial vibe and minimal aesthetic. A new fellow female in your corner, cheering you on. AND the incredible feeling of having honored yourself at this moment in your life—a memory you’ll cherish forever.

It’s all about you, girl. And if you walk away feeling empowered, then I’ve done my job.

AS I USED TO SAY IN MY STYLE BLOG…

Everyone has an edit, I’m here to help you find yours.

WHAT THE GIRLIES ARE SAYING …

  • "Cortney gave me an unforgettable and powerful experience."

She helped me find my way back to myself, my inner beauty and restoring the confidence and courage I almost once lost. Her photoshoot gave me strength and the ability to love myself in a way I didn’t think I could or deserved to feel. It was truly a healing and therapeutic experience I will always cherish and hold close to my heart. Cortney is an exceptional photographer, artist and human being. Thank you for being the hype girl I didn’t know I needed and for helping me come out through some dark days and letting me shine. You are the best!

    MAGGIE S.

  • "I cannot say enough about Cortney. She exudes professionalism, grace, and humility."

Her creative eye and preparation make her shoots comfortable and seamless. So happy to have found her.

    GINNY S.

  • "I can not begin to express my gratitude to Cortney for giving me the confidence I needed to get in front of the camera and get amazing photos for my new business!"

She has the sweetest demeanor that just relaxes you without even noticing. She is always smiling and laughing, which is contagious and really shows through her photos. You can learn how to be a good photographer, but you can't teach someone how to connect with people. It is truly a gift to be able to give someone direction without making them feel uncomfortable, she does this so easily by gently advising you what to do, but also by showing you which is so helpful for some individuals. And before you know it you are laughing, feeling natural and then the session is over!
